Kintsugi Workshop Terms & Conditions

This workshop involves handling of Japanese urushi lacquer.  Its urushiol content in liquid state is known to cause allergic reaction (skin rash) when comes in contact with skin directly.  Please read and understand this raw material and decide if you should participate in this workshop. We will not be liable for any allergic condition caused from using Japanese lacquer. 

You agreed to wear protective gears (long sleeves, gloves, apron, and/or face mask) during workshop to minimize accidental skin, face, eyes contact with the material.  You agreed to sign a liability release prior to any activities.  During the tour or at the workshop, if you do not feel comfortable and decide not to handle any urushi material, please kindly let us know.  It is ok to watch demonstration at your comfortable distance and skip any hands-on experience. 

Tools used in workshop may include sharp objects or knives as part of the craft demonstration. Participants in the workshop will not be required to handle sharp objects or knives.  Use common sense and handle these items, and use at your own risk.   Any medical condition or injury incurred will be your responsibility, so consider getting travel insurance from your home country prior to departure.  

CANCELLATION POLICY

100% refund of total course fee if cancel by 10/15/2023.

50% refund of total course fee if cancel by 10/31/2023. 
20% refund of total course fee if cancel by 11/15/2023.

No refund after 11/15/2023.
No show will be no refund.

WAITLIST

If the workshop is full, you will be placed on waitlist.  If any space becomes available, you will be notified and have 24 hours to decide before it offer to the next on the list.  Same cancellation policy applies to wait-list signups. 

ACCESS & TRANSPORTATION

The cost of the travel workshop DOES NOT include transportation to-and-from the tour location. 

All local transportation costs DURING the tour are included.  

We will provide detail transportation suggestions to depart from TOKYO STATION to the first-day's meeting point.  If you will be arriving from departure points other than Tokyo, please send us the information and we can provide guidance to arrive Ibaraki prefecture for the tour.

 

LOCATION

Location, detail first-day meeting point and itinerary will be notified after 9/30/2023 by email after you successfully completed the booking.  Location is in Ibaraki Prefecture (160km / 100 miles North of Tokyo), 2.5 hour by car and 3 hours by train pending on transfer. If you will be driving, notify us in advance to receive parking information. We will not be liable for parking cost or any incident relating to your vehicle and parking. 

ACCOMMODATION

Cost is based on double occupancy. (Room with 2 beds or Japanese style futon).  If single occupancy is preferred, please specify during booking. Additional US$120 ($40 per night) will be billed after reservation is confirmed. 

Accommodation is Japanese-style hotel which may have either Western-style bed or Japanese futon bed on tatami floor.  With private bathroom and toilet.  Onsen hot spring will be shared used. 

SPECIAL DIET and NEEDS

If there is special diet or food allergy need, please notify us during booking and we will try our best to accommodate. 

ACCESSIBILITY

The travel experience involves hiking up slopes and some hilly terrain in the forest, we are unable to accommodate accessibility needs due to the nature of the tour. Hotels and workshop venue are accessible. 

VENUE & CLASSROOM

Please be considerate in maintaining the venue space and not cause any damage.

KINTSUGI MATERIAL & SUPPLIES

The workshop fee includes a basic set of material where you can bring home with you.  Gold, Brass, Silver powder will be available for use in the class to do various exercise. Additional tools and material for advance kintsugi will be available for sale at the workshop. 

By signing up to participate the workshop, you agreed to these terms and conditions.  Liability Release form will be provided after reservation confirmation and at the location.
