These wood tubs are called "Meshibitsu" in Japanese, meaning rice buckets.  They are used to hold steamed rice and because of the natural cedar wood, they retained moisture well so steamed rice remains fluffy and soft.

They also work as bakery basket for your bread, danish or muffins.  This M-size fits bread or pastry for 3-4 people.  It look extremely nice as breakfast table setting.  The reverse side of the lid becomes a useful tray for your jam and butter!   Be creative, use it as a storage container for anything:  coffee or tea set, baking tools, handcraft supplies ... you name it.

M is the medium size rice bucket that holds about 10 small bowls (5 cups) of rice.  Larger size availabe, email us to inquire.  Be sure to check the size before ordering.

Made with finely planed 4.8 mm thick cedar wood with the iconic sakura bark stitching.   It has a very pleasant aroma of cedar wood.
